Wow oh wow I wish I had seen this as a kid. You can find this gem in the Blu-Ray version of the movie.

Working on Backgrounds
Been trying to get my lighting just right in Maya so my kitchen fits the bill. It's looking a little too yellow here for my liking, the foreground could be brighter, and the scene outside has mysteriously disappeared in the rendering process. . . opinions?
Hopefully I'll have this all sorted by the end of tomorrow. Then, it's on to adding the animation!

Blink
This is my blink for the class task today. I did it mostly left handed so it is somewhat scribbly, apologies.

The Sketchbook Project
Sketchbooks, visual journals - whatever you want to call them - are always a useful device for artists and thinkers to record their ideas onto paper.
The Sketchbook Project commences this year, an international event where artists recieve a special sketchbook, fill it, and send it back to become a part of a world exhibition. You can pick a theme to base your sketchbook around, and seeming the project has some pretty decent sponsors, it's a pretty choice way for a student to get their stuff out there on an international level.

And just in case you were skeptical as to whether or not you'd receive any attention, you can opt for emails or text messages to let you know every time your sketchbook is viewed at the exhibition. How cool is that?
You can go here for more details.
At $25 a sketchbook I can understand hesitation at taking part - personally, I solved the expense by deciding to share the sketchbook with a friend and splitting the fee 50/50.

Be interested to hear if anyone else decides to participate!

Brick Throw Prt 1
This is the first part of an arm movement sequence. Here in Part 1, I've just finished figuring out the movement and timing of the arm throwing a brick. Next up, moving the brick.
What do you think?
Any critique appreciated. :)
Don't Forget!
Wow, talk about your lack of updates!
Just reminding everyone that Free Comic Book Day is on the 7th of May. All you have to do is head into your local comic book store and ask to see what comics they have to offer. Personally I plan on doing the freebie rounds in the city - and perhaps a bite to eat of the Teppanyaki persuasion?
Also of note, I know a few people have been wondering when Cartoon Network is going to air new episodes of Young Justice. New episodes have been announced, the first of which airing the 3rd of June. More about the episode can be read here.
Now I am off to make a pot of tea. :)

Free Comic Book Day
Is on May the 7th, all in the name of promoting the reading of comic books! This year it looks like they have some choice selections, ranging from 'Avatar: TLA' and 'Kung Fu Panda', to 'Star Wars' and 'The Dark Crystal'.
All you have to do is walk into your local comic book store, ask at the counter, and you'll be sure to get a free comic to read on the bus ride home from TAFE. :)

Future Ambitions
Each new year presents itself the opportunity to outdo the last.
To prove to your past self your future self can still make it.
This year I think I want to open up a bit more, not be so afraid of peoples negative opinions. Share my drawings and ideas a bit more, ones that aren't camouflaged.
To not censor myself so much.
By the end of the year I want to have an impressive portfolio, for both character and background design. To send my work to publishers, and maybe even have a proposal or two for a graphic novel.
But most of all I just want to have a finished story under my belt.
:)
